A strong group performance was recently achieved under the management of HSW Logistics to implement the heavy-lift transport of an industrial dryer (length 31 m / weight 186 t) from Bilbao (Spain) to Bonn. “We have managed to map a complete solution within the HSL group of companies,” says a pleased HSW Managing Director Björn Zirotzki. HSW, which specialises in river-sea transport, organised the transport from Bilbao to Krefeld with the H&S Prudence. As a special feature, Zirotzki notes, “There are not many coasters that are so flat-bottomed that they can go that far up the Rhine.”
In Krefeld, HSW made use of the infrastructure and know-how of the Austrian parent company Felbermayr, which has its own heavy-lift terminal there with corresponding cranes and paved areas. After a short interim storage, HSL’s Project Division took over the final section from Krefeld to Bonn by barge. There the project assignment for HSW was completed. “The strong group performance exemplifies how the logistics services complement each other at our company,” concludes Zirotzki.
